J. Bryan Gwinn

Bryan’s practice concentrates on representing business owners in a general counsel capacity on myriad issues they will encounter throughout the lifecycle of their business – including business transactions, mergers & acquisitions, entity formation and equity transitions, contract drafting and negotiation, franchisee matters, employee/customer questions and disputes as well as any and all related leasing and real estate matters that will transpire.  He also handles litigation arising out of business operations such as disputes between shareholders, breaches of contract and other cases between companies, real estate claims including quiet title and, when required, he has appealed and argued cases before the Colorado Court of Appeals, including a case that was selected for publication.  Bryan has also ensured that clients who were injured in a car accident or at work receive a fair and just recovery for their injuries.

Bryan was born, raised, and educated in Champaign, Illinois where he earned a BA in Philosophy from the University of Illinois. After graduating, he worked for the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and a U.S. Senator during several years in Washington, D.C. Soon after, Bryan left the beltway to enroll in the University of Denver Sturm College of Law where he served as a Senior Editor of the Law Review and held an internship for a Judge on the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.  In 2010 he founded The Gwinn Law Firm LLC where he spent seven years handling a wide range of cases for clients throughout the Front Range. He became a partner at Volant Law LLC in 2017.

Bryan is an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoys bow hunting for elk in the Colorado backcountry and camping and hiking with his wife and three children. The San Luis Valley and northern Minnesota hold a special place in his heart. Bryan volunteers his time as the legislative liaison for Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, a member of the Fellowship Denver Church elder team, and was a founding board member of the Mile High Workshop, a second-chance work program for those transitioning out of homelessness, dependency, or incarceration.
